ZeldHack brings the retro charm of the original The Legend of Zelda to NetHack 3.6.7 in a seamless, ready-to-play experience. Inspired by Famicom and NES aesthetics, this mod combines a custom 32×32 tileset, authentic sound effects, and the iconic dungeon theme from Zelda, all packed into an easy-to-run package—just download and launch the.bat file, no setup needed. Play as Link by choosing the Ranger role, and enjoy quality-of-life touches like automatic rupee and projectile pickup. Two launchers let you choose between full audio or sound effects only, with music handled separately for flexibility. Over 250 NES game tilesets were analyzed and reworked to craft a nostalgic yet fresh look, packed with references not only to Zelda but also Dragon Quest, Kid Icarus, Final Fantasy, Castlevania, and more. ZeldHack delivers a lovingly curated fusion of classic dungeon crawling and retro gaming culture in one cohesive mod.
