Description

WordRace is a clever puzzle-racing game created for VimJam5, blending word-solving challenges with competitive speedrunning. Your objective is straightforward: rearrange letters to spell the target word, unlock the portal, and escape the room as fast as possible. But speed isn't everything—smart planning matters. Choosing where and how to build your word can make the difference between victory and defeat. While button-mashing might get you through, mastering strategy will leave others in the dust. The game connects you to a live leaderboard, so you can race against previous players' times, but requires login via a simple authentication system—use a unique password, as it's stored in plaintext locally. Built with Dragon Ruby and Ruby on Rails, WordRace currently doesn't support browser play due to networking issues, but updates are expected before the jam deadline. Bugs may appear, but that's part of the jam spirit. Challenge yourself, learn from the best, and race to the top.
