Venba

Venba is a narrative cooking game that explores family, love, and loss through the lens of food. You play as Venba, a South Indian immigrant mother who connects with her son by preparing authentic regional dishes like idlis, dosas, and biriyani. This short cinematic experience can be completed in one to two hours. As you piece together a tattered recipe book, you solve cooking puzzles and learn real South Indian cuisine. After cooking in-game, you can try the recipes in real life using the included Cookbook. The story follows a family over the years, touching on culture, self-discovery, and acceptance. The banda sonora features catchy tunes inspired by Tamil music, and you can listen to it anytime with the in-game radio. The warm, stylized art brings the food and story to life, making it almost good enough to taste.
