Description
Step into the world of classic dungeon crawling with Vanilla JavaScript Roguelike Engine, a lightweight, cross-platform ASCII roguelike built from the ground up for the 2024 7DRL challenge. Inspired by the Broughlike Tutorial, this engine embraces traditional roguelike elements: procedurally generated levels, turn-based jugabilidad, grid-based movement, permadeath, and hack-and-slash combat—all rendered in pure ASCII for that retro feel. It supports custom map integration, allowing developers to swap randomly generated dungeons for hand-crafted layouts directly in code. A built-in look feature enhances exploration, while non-modal resource management keeps jugabilidad fluid. Though still in development, the engine is functional and playable online, with room for expansion and community feedback. Designed to be minimal yet extensible, it's an ideal foundation for future roguelike projects. Special thanks to Jeremiah Reed for the original tutorial that sparked this creation.
