Utility for the Soul
Is a thought-provoking experience designed to reconnect people with their inner selves through immersive environments. Created by Lithuanian-American artist Aleksandra Kasuba in 1970, the project explores the idea of a corporate retreat focused on well-being rather than productivity. The game centers around a Retreat House, accessible to all employees on a rotating schedule, funded entirely by the company. Visitors spend time in the Galleries—spacious, wall-less spaces designed to amplify echoes and create a sense of vastness. Here, they encounter the four Elements: Earth, Air, Fire, and Water. Freed from constant digital noise, players engage with natural phenomena and reflect on their own responses. The experience aims to reveal authentic self-expressions and inspire deeper personal understanding. As a visionary work from the E.A.T. movement, *Utility for the Soul* blends art, philosophy, and technology to imagine a harmonious future. It stands as a testament to Kasuba’s enduring belief in the power of creative spaces to.
