Description
Underwater Study is a retro-inspired first-person shooter set in a mysterious 1944 underwater city, drawing clear inspiration from classics like Bioshock and Doom. Navigate dimly lit corridors, interact with eerie environments, and fend off strange alien threats using simple mouse and keyboard controls—shoot with the left mouse button, jump with Space, and interact with objects using E. The game features a unique aesthetic, with visuals originally crafted using AI tools like Craiyon and later edited in paint.net, alongside some 3D elements such as the player's gun hand, generated via Instant Mesh. Sound design pulls from public domain sources, including vintage pre-1929 audio clips and effects from freesound.org. Originally delisted due to concerns over AI-generated content, the game has returned following its preservation on the Internet Archive. While a non-AI remake was considered, the original versión stands as a brief but atmospheric experiment in retro sci-fi horror. Underwater Study offers a short, surreal dive into a forgotten world beneath the waves.
