UNDERSCORE is an experimental narrative experience that blends environmental exploration, nonlinear dialogue, and multimedia elements to examine themes of alienation, connection, and shared emotion. Across three distinct acts, players interact with various entities, uncovering layered reflections on suffering, empathy, and moments of collective joy. Drawing from personal insight and academic perspectives on game design, the project challenges traditional storytelling through mechanics like false choices, moral dilemmas, and delayed consequences. This thoughtful integration of puzzle-solving and narrative depth creates a unique space for individual catharsis and emotional resonance. Enhanced with controller support, UNDERSCORE offers an intimate journey into the complexities of human connection. Songs featured include "Strangers" by The Kinks, "In The Bleak Midwinter" by Worcester Cathedral Choir, and "Dreamland" by Will Varley. The game was developed using Text Animator for Unity.
