The Longest Walk
Is a moving, narrative-driven experience that explores the real-life journey of the developer’s father through depression and suicidal thoughts. Based on a 54-minute interview, the game condenses the conversation into a 9.5-minute interactive journey, offering players an intimate look at mental health struggles. Designed to foster empathy and reduce stigma, it encourages dialogue and support for those facing similar challenges. While rooted in personal history, its themes resonate universally, highlighting the emotional weight of living with depression. Available on **Steam Deck**, the game features optimized settings for clarity and accessibility, including subtitle adjustments and controller controls. Developed as part of a PhD project at Abertay University, funded by The Northwood Charitable Trust, it draws inspiration from acclaimed titles like *Dear Esther* and *That Dragon, Cancer*. Published by Somewhat Unsettling under the Abertay Game Lab, this project blends documentary storytelling with jugabilidad to provoke reflection and connection. Experience a deeply human story that bridges art and advocacy. The Longest Walk invites.
