Spirit Island
Spirit Island immerses players in a richly atmospheric alternate 1700s world where ancient elemental spirits defend their homeland against encroaching colonial invaders. Designed by R. Eric Reuss, this cooperative strategy game blends area-control mechanics with deep thematic storytelling. Players take on the roles of unique Spirits, each wielding elemental powers to strengthen the land and rally the Dahan, indigenous allies who amplify their abilities. Together, they must repel invaders spreading blight and destruction across a modular island composed of four balanced boards, offering diverse layouts and strategic depth. The game supports 1 to 4 players, scaling island size and challenge accordingly. It features 8 distinct Spirits, each with 4 unique Power cards, plus 36 Minor and 22 Major Power cards for tactical versatility. Three adversary factions—Brandenburg-Prussia, England, and Sweden—provide varied threats, while 15 Invader cards and 15 Blight/Fear cards introduce unpredictable twists. Optional scenarios and thematic island boards ensure replay.
