Glitch Escape
Glitch Escape is a thought-provoking narrative-driven game crafted by 16 UCSC students from the games department, exploring themes of sleep paralysis and astral projection. The story follows characters trapped in an "astral realm" by a self-aware antagonist—a twisted versión of themselves unwilling to let them return to reality. Players guide the protagonist through psychological challenges, confronting fears and alternate versions of themselves to save others trapped in this liminal space. The game blends surreal visuals with atmospheric sound design by Coy Youngblood, creating an immersive experience. Key team members include Tiffany Phan (Creative Director, Art Producer), David Monroe (Technical Producer), and Seiji Emery (Lead Technical Producer and Programmer). Music and sound were crafted by Coy Youngblood, while narrative direction came from Kris Torres. Developed amid the challenges of 2020, the project highlights collaboration across art, programming, and design. Glitch Escape offers a unique blend of psychological storytelling and experimental jugabilidad, making it a standout indie title.
