Biodigital
Biodigital is a thought-provoking sci-fi interactive narrative set in the year 2117. The game explores a future where humanity exists within the biodigital space—a realm blending biological and electronic components to house human consciousness. It traces the evolution of society from early communication breakthroughs like the printing press and television to the emergence of neuroimplantable technology, enabling minds to transfer into digital environments. Central to the story are the ethical challenges raised by mind cloning and telepathic connections between originals and their digital counterparts. Developed through a collaboration between Takahito Ito, a visualization engineer at NHK, and Cesar A. Hidalgo, director of MIT’s Collective Learning group, Biodigital reflects real-world academic research and creative vision. The project began during Ito’s 2016–2017 visit to Hidalgo’s lab, evolving into a side initiative that merges storytelling with technological exploration. Biodigital invites players to engage with its richly imagined world, where philosophical questions meet immersive jugabilidad.
