My entry for Virtual Pet Jam was created after less than three days of development, so it’s far from polished—but it was a fun experiment. Unlike my previous Ludum Dare project, this time I worked solo and had to push hard to finish. The core idea is simple: raise a new daughter through three mini-games, each affecting her stats. Mistakes lower her happiness, and if it hits zero, you restart with a new character—who looks almost identical since I didn’t have time to add random hair colors. Controls are rough, but customizable via the launch menu. Unfortunately, button labels can’t be changed, and some bugs remain, like a broken timer in the math mini-game. Scope had to be cut due to tight deadlines, so features like the shop—where you can buy head ornaments and toys—were left out. Despite its flaws, it’s a quirky, fast-paced pet-raising experience worth trying. I hope to refine it further before release.
