Yesterday, the World Ended
Yesterday, the World Ended is a compact, emotionally intense visual novel built in Ren’Py and crafted in just one week for the Only One of Any Asset (Again!) Jam of 2021. The story follows Luke, who awakens aboard a train heading toward an unknown destination, convinced he’s the only survivor in a world that has ended. Unlike typical branching narratives, this experience unfolds linearly with a single ending and no player choices. The game focuses on atmosphere, character, and mood, using minimal but evocative storytelling. Developed by Ronove Clouds, it features art, writing, and coding all by the same creator, with music by Presence of Music and sound design by SmartWentCody. Content warnings include references to sexual assault. With a short runtime and a focus on mood over jugabilidad, it’s ideal for fans of narrative-driven indie titles. This project showcases how powerful a small team can be in creating a memorable, immersive experience. It’s a unique piece of interactive storytelling worth experiencing.
