What They Don't Sea
In *What They Don't Sea*, players step into the shoes of a marine researcher working for the Rachel Carson Research Organization, tasked with gathering samples of a mysterious new algae species for a groundbreaking renewable energy initiative. Set in a stunning 2D pixel platformer world, the game blends serene underwater landscapes with eerie, atmospheric zones, creating a visually striking experience. Players must carefully manage their air supply while navigating treacherous depths, adding a layer of tension to exploration. The game features a cast of endearing ocean creatures that inject humor and charm into the journey. Developed by Team Atlantis—a group of middle school girls from the Girls Make Games summer camp in Durham, NC—the title won the Grand Prize at the 2019 GMG Demo Day and raised over $40K on Kickstarter. Part of the Girls Make Games initiative, which empowers young girls in game design and coding, *What They Don't Sea* showcases the creativity and potential of emerging developers. It’s a unique blend of education, storytelling, and jugabilidad that inspires.
