Description
In *Wairepo Wetland Stories - Episode 2*, a minimalist card puzzle game by Jonas Hansen (pixelsix.net), you take part in the vital mission of restoring a fragile wetland ecosystem. Inspired by the real-life conservation work of Sonja and Sen at their wetland sanctuary in Kawakawa, New Zealand, this game challenges you to remove invasive species, clear pollution, and plant native trees to rebuild a thriving habitat. Wetlands are Earth's natural carbon sinks—covering only 6% of land yet storing 30% of terrestrial carbon—while also filtering water, preventing floods, and supporting rich biodiversity. Yet they're vanishing faster than nearly any other ecosystem. Each decision in the game reflects real-world impact, emphasizing how every hectare saved safeguards life, resilience, and the planet's future. Part of a larger artistic and environmental project, this episode invites players to engage deeply with ecological restoration through thoughtful, meditative jugabilidad. For every hectare of wetland saved, we protect life, biodiversity, and the future of our planet.
