Description
VR PC Building Simulator is an immersive educational experience developed in Unity using the OpenXR SDK, designed for both desktop and standalone VR platforms like Windows and Meta Quest. Created as a university project with a focus on sustainability, it teaches users how to assemble PCs to promote repair over replacement, helping reduce electronic waste. The simulator features fully custom 3D models and textures—crafted in Tinkercad, Blender, and Substance Painter—with components built to a slightly larger scale for easier handling in VR. Each part includes detailed installation instructions, explaining its function, placement, and connections. A modular power supply demonstrates realistic cable physics, showing both ends of each cable as they link to the system. When the build is complete, inserting the boot USB triggers a display on a virtual monitor, confirming success. A custom C# script verifies component positioning and orientation with tolerance for VR's lack of haptic feedback, making the system flexible and scalable for future expansions. This simulator makes learning PC hardware approachable and engaging for everyone.
