Stamped: an anti-travel game
Immerses players in the intertwined lives of six queer, racialized travelers navigating Asian cities. Their journeys, driven by self-destructive impulses, explore themes of grief, betrayal, and systemic discrimination. The game unfolds across three modes: poetic interactive fiction, witty visual novel dialogue, and point-and-click travel narratives. Visually, it blends hand-drawn art, oil paintings, digital backgrounds, and charming manga-style sprites. Inspired by the award-winning novel *Stamped: an anti-travel novel*, it challenges players to confront ethical dilemmas tied to power dynamics, colonial histories, and personal identity. With 3–4 hours of content, STAMPED balances introspection and storytelling, offering a raw yet creative lens on queer youth and migration. Developed with Analgesic Productions and the University of British Columbia, it’s a poignant, visually rich experience. This adaptation invites reflection on how travel shapes self-discovery. The game’s unique blend of art and narrative.
