Mannerheim's Saloon Car
Mannerheim's Saloon Car offers a unique journey into the history of Finland’s WWII era through an immersive VR experience. This meticulously recreated train carriage belonged to Marshal Carl Gustaf Emil Mannerheim, who led Finland’s defense during the Winter War and later became president. Traveling nearly 79,000 kilometers during the conflict, the carriage stands as a symbol of resilience and leadership. Now preserved in Mikkeli, Finland, it’s open to the public once a year on June 4th. Through the app, users can explore its interiors, interact with authentic artifacts, documents, photo albums, film clips, and even listen to historical radio broadcasts. Available in English or Finnish, the experience was crafted by Xamk Game Studios as part of the ARMikkeli project, supported by the South Savo Regional Council and the European Regional Development Fund. This engaging tool bridges history and technology, inviting players to step into a pivotal chapter of European heritage. Experience the past like never before with Mannerheim’s Saloon Car.
