Ginkgo is a solo 3D horror experience rooted in East Asian folklore and surreal dreamscapes. Players wield a magic needle and thread to mend fractured realities, solve intricate spatial puzzles, and evade terrifying creatures. The game blends psychological tension with atmospheric visuals, drawing inspiration from traditional yokai legends and spiritual myths. Each encounter with these meticulously crafted monsters offers unpredictable twists, forcing players to adapt quickly. Designed as a 20-40 minute demo by USC Games Program students, Ginkgo delivers a compact yet immersive journey through a haunting, otherworldly environment. Its minimalist narrative focuses on exploration and survival, emphasizing environmental storytelling and player intuition. The innovative mechanics around the needle and thread system stand out as a fresh take on puzzle-solving in horror games.
