Beasts of Steel puts you in control of a duo—one as the artist and level designer, the other as the programmer—both passionate players committed to refining the game through community feedback. The game balances realism with playability: soldiers are average, and exposure to enemy fire leads to quick death. Realistic loadouts mean no overpowered weapons; you’ll carry a machine gun and rifle, sticking to practical gear. The environment reacts dynamically—trees shatter, craters form, and terrain shifts under fire. Tanks feature detailed shell types (AP, HE, APHE, etc.), with damage influenced by armor, angle, and impact. Vehicles and soldiers share modular components vulnerable to damage, and ricochets add chaotic physics-driven combat. A strategic layer sits atop tactical battles, with hex-based campaigns and resource management (steel, oil, rubber, aluminum, tungsten) shaping each campaign.
